Davenport Development, the company behind gated communities such as San Sebastian, Vela, and Arvia, broke ground on their latest residential development, Bahia, in 2020. SUPPLY CHAIN CHALLENGES

Global supply chain issues have impacted the construction industry particularly hard over the past two years. Davenport Development has faced numerous challenges, from rising shipping costs and shortages of materials and products to significant delays in receiving orders.

Rising energy costs have caused some manufacturers to suspend the production of certain goods which are energy-intensive to make. Some suppliers are substituting goods with lower-quality alternatives to save on costs, and others find they cannot fulfil orders, even with several months’ lead time.

Inland freight issues in North America and Europe continue to cause delays in getting materials to and from ports, and inflation is causing the cost of goods and shipping to sky-rocket. The Russian invasion of Ukraine and continuing lockdowns in major Chinese cities will only prolong the problem, further stressing supply chains and escalating prices.
